Dear Friends and Neighbors,
The Yonkers Public Library needs YOU!
Of course the library is important to you. You’ve read its books and listened to its audiobooks. You’ve taken your children to storytime. You’ve dropped off your teen to research a school project. You have attended programs in person or online. All of these excellent resources are free and available to you and to every member of our community.
But have you ever thought of how important you are to the library?
Without you the library is just a building.
Since 2018, the Foundation for the Yonkers Public Library (FYPL) has raised over $100,000 to support the Yonkers Public Library, providing programming and resources that would not have been possible if the library had to rely only on public funding.
In just the last year, we have made possible:
Re-launch of 1000 Books Before Kindergarten. This signature program first started in Yonkers with support from FYPL. With in-person visits possible again, YPL has re-designed this program to be more fun than ever with the support of the Foundation.
Expanded virtual programming with world-famous authors! Through a partnership with The Library Speakers Consortium, FYPL’s support is making it possible for all YPL patrons to enjoy virtual visits by over 20 acclaimed and bestselling authors each year through the YPL Presents: Virtual Author Talks series.
Homework Help! As students returned to classrooms and struggled with educational loss from the COVID-19 pandemic, FYPL helped to provide trained tutors at all three locations.
In May, we welcomed 150 guests to the Spring Gala, to celebrate past directors Ed Falcone and Susan Thaler and to officially give a Yonkers welcome to director Jesse Montero and Deputy Director Shauna Porteus.
In June, we hosted the 2nd Annual MAKE MUSIC YONKERS, an international festival with over a dozen participatory music events all throughout the City of Yonkers.
FYPL thanks YOU!
If you made a contribution, we thank you for your generosity
If you participated in our 2022 survey, we thank you for your input
If you attended a program, borrowed a book, looked for a job, we thank you for allowing us to serve you.
See YOU at the library!
