November 2024
Dear Friends,
Every story begins with a first page - even the story of becoming a reader.

That's why in 2024, funding from The Foundation for the Yonkers Public Library helped YPL launch "Born to Read", an innovative partnership with St. John's Riverside Hospital. Since September, this program has welcomed nearly 100 of our youngest community members to the wonderful world of reading. Each newborn at St. John's receives a special welcome packet including:
-
Baby's first library card
-
Bilingual board book for newborns
-
"Born to Read" bib
-
An early literacy guide for parents
-
An invitation to the library's storytimes
-
Information about YPL's programs and services
Our goal? To reach all 1,200 babies born annually at St. John's, planting the seeds of literacy from day one.
Your generous donation to the Foundation will help ensure that "Born to Read" and the many other programs supported by the Foundation continue to thrive and grow. Because while you're never too young to be read to, you're also never too young to fall in love with your local library.
With gratitude,
Nancy Maron
