Nora Byrne

Nora is an educator at The Windward School, teaching students with language-based learning disabilities. After working in retail bank marketing and communications and a career break to care for her four children, she obtained her Master’s in Education from Manhattanville College. In fact, it was at the Will Branch that she noticed a flyer describing the program and was inspired to apply. Libraries were an especially important part of her childhood, as her father was a librarian. Many ideal summer days were spent with her father on the job at the Port Washington library or visiting her local children’s library in Queens, New York. That tradition continued for Nora’s children, where her family has benefited from the Yonkers Public Library programs and services throughout the 22 years as residents. With a belief that libraries are a vital component of our communities' social and cultural fabric, Nora is delighted to be a member of the Foundation board.
