Emily Farrell
Emily works at the MIT Press as their Library Sales Executive, which means she has the good fortunate to work closely with librarians. She has worked in academic publishing for ten years, first as an acquisitions editor and then in library sales. She came to publishing from research and teaching following a PhD in sociolinguistics. A career with books was a natural progression from a childhood as a voracious reader. She still remembers the magic of library visits growing up in Sydney: roaming the stacks, discovering new books, and learning to use the card catalogue. Emily has served as Board Secretary for the New York based immigrant legal and education outreach non-profit UnLocal since 2015. Living in Yonkers since 2017, she enjoys taking her son to the Riverfront branch to borrow books and work on fostering a life-long love of learning.
