Brad Crownover
Dr. Brad Crownover, PhD, MFA, is an Associate Professor of Communication at the University of Mount Saint Vincent (UMSV). Brad earned his PhD from Rutgers University and holds an MFA in Theatre from Sarah Lawrence College, as well as undergraduate and graduate degrees from Western Illinois
University and Ohio University. His academic work focuses on strategic and promotional communication, intercultural communication, and theatre studies and performance technique. In addition to teaching a wide range of communication and theatre courses, Dr. Crownover’s academic work has been presented at national and regional conferences and in publications focused on communication, identity, and performance. Currently, he serves as the Program Planner/Vice Chair-Elect for the Theatre, Film, and New Multimedia Division of the National Communication Association.
In addition to his accomplishments in the field of communication, Dr. Crownover has a growing body of artistic work as a director, playwright, and poet. In January, he directed a staged reading of his original play, Tulip’s Last Chance, for the Park Hill Players in Yonkers, NY. In the fall of 2025, he directed two plays for the City Island Theater Group's Festival of One Acts. Other recent work included productions of his original plays, Happy Tails, A Dramedy in One Act, Here with You, and Ginny Wants a Cake. He last appeared on stage as Officer Welch in Rumors and before that as John/Elvis in Four Weddings and an Elvis. Currently on view is a multi-media art installation, Love in Mexico, at UMSV’s Music Conservatory.
